Fly Fishing

The White River, downstream of Bull Shoals Dam, is the premier trout fishery in the United States and has yielded Arkansas state records for cutthroat and rainbow trout. Floating down the river in an Ozark johnboat and fishing for brown, brook, cutthroat, and rainbow trout is an experience found nowhere else in America.

The five-mile stretch from Norfork Dam to the White River is famous for producing big trout—including the second largest trout ever recorded in the world. Rainbow and cutthroat are also popular targets for anglers in the region.  The North Fork River is also known as one of the most productive trout fisheries in the world, each year 1.5 million trout are released from the Norfork National Fish Hatchery into the North Fork and White Rivers.
